Tania Fuentes (she/her) is a Mexican Visual Communication Designer and art educator based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She holds a Bachelor’s in Design from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), a Master’s in Design and Animation from the Glasgow School of Art, and a Master’s in Art Education from NSCAD University, and a Certificate in Gallery and Studio Management from the Anna Leonowens Gallery. She now teaches in the Art Education graduate program at NSCAD within the Division of Art History & Contemporary Culture.
She has over a decade of teaching and leadership experience, including her role as Digital Art Program Director and professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City. In Halifax, she expanded her practice through an internship with the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s Education Department and continued collaborating with the gallery on guided tours and public programming, strengthening her engagement with community-based learning and audience development.
Tania is also part of The Land Connects Us research group, contributing to forthcoming publications that investigate community-based practices and collaborative methodologies. Her work brings together design, education, and cultural engagement, with a particular interest in creating spaces of connection and belonging.
