Statement:

Although populations of Atlantic salmon in the ocean have collapsed, industrial aquaculture allows the fish to continue appearing in stores and on our plates. A range of fabricated colourants are added to farmed fish diets to make them appear wild and appetizing, chosen by the variation of “salmon pink” that sells best.

Inspired by the Japanese tradition of printing fish called Gyotaku alongside post-digital methods and materials, Hann uses printmaking to explore the multiple as it is found in nature and exploited through technology.
